The IEEE Ad Hoc Committee on Activities in Africa was formed in 2013. Information related to the scope, membership, activity reports, and other information is provided here.
Access to Committee reports and related activity information is limited to members of the Committee, the IEEE Board of Directors, IEEE Directors-Elect, current IEEE President-Elect Candidates, members of the Management Council, and select staff.
Scope
Charge: IEEE Ad Hoc Committee on Activities in Africa shall:
- review and report on IEEE current activities in Africa, including scope, geographical distribution, and observable trends;
- pursue collaborative opportunities with the IEEE-UNESCO Working Group (WG) and Workforce Development WG of the IEEE Humanitarian Ad Hoc Committee (HAHC); focus of the activities lie in the area of engineering capacity building and educational activities (at all levels: pre-university, university, and continuing education);
- goals include: (a) understand the ECT environment in Africa; (b) establish an effective pre-university ECT program in Africa; (c) develop engagement with ECT employers in Africa; (d) establish IEEE presence in ECT sectors in Africa; and (e) establish strategic partnerships focused in Africa.
