IEEE/Royal Society of Edinburgh Joint Activities Task Force was formed in 2013. Information related to the scope, membership, activity reports, and other information is provided here.

Access to Committee reports and related activity information is limited to members of the Committee, the IEEE Board of Directors, IEEE Directors-Elect, current IEEE President-Elect Candidates, members of the Management Council, and select staff.

Scope

Charge: The IEEE/Royal Society of Edinburgh Joint Activities Task Force:

  1. The committee is to develop, in consultation and consensus with a committee appointed by the President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, a roadmap to implement the objectives of the 23 September 2012 plan titled “Expanding the cooperation between IEEE and the Royal Society of Edinburgh Joint Activities in Maxwell Theory and Electromagnetic Theory and Practice” (in the sequel, this document is referred to as “the Plan”), including objectives not listed that are consistent with the intent of the Plan, and represent consensus of the joint IEEE/RSE committee.
  2. The committee is to develop, in consultation and consensus with a committee appointed by the President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the following documents:
    1. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RSE and IEEE to implement the Plan; the MoU draft will be presented for approval by the appropriate governing bodies of the RSE and the

IEEE (Target date is 1 June 2013).

    2. A roadmap for joint activities between RSE and IEEE in the Areas of Mutual Interest described in the Plan (target date is 1 July 2013), or in other areas that the joint committees may feel to be important.

    3. A plan for the first joint activity (e.g., a track on teaching Maxwell equation in an IEEE conference), including timeline, budget, and implementation plan (target date is 1 July 2013).

    4. Contingent on approval of the MoU by both parties, a plan of activities under the MoU, for a period including the remainder of calendar year 2013 and the calendar year 2014 (target date is 1 October 2013).

  3. It is planned that most of the Committee’s activities will be conducted by telephone and electronic mail. Should the need arise for a face-to-face meeting of the IEEE committee, or a face-to-face meeting of the IEEE committee with the RSE committee, then the IEEE committee will make a request of the IEEE President for funding of participation of members of the IEEE committee in such meeting.
