The IEEE Nominations and Appointments (N&A) Committee provides guidelines to assist in submitting nominations for volunteer leadership positions.
Boards & Standing Committees
IEEE N&A recommends individuals for service on the following boards and committees. The appointments are made by the IEEE Board of Directors.
IEEE Officers (elected by the IEEE Assembly)
IEEE N&A recommends individuals for the following IEEE Officer positions. The IEEE Officers serve on the IEEE Board of Directors and are elected by the IEEE Assembly.
IEEE President-Elect
The IEEE N&A recommends individuals for IEEE President-Elect. The IEEE Board of Directors approves the final list, which is then included in the IEEE Annual Election. The voting members of the IEEE elect the President-Elect.
Each position has specific responsibilities, qualifications, and time commitments.
A candidate without specific experience in a position may be considered if highly qualified and can demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn.
Prior work in IEEE is important but does not outweigh ability. Equivalent experience outside IEEE is considered.
Anyone may submit a nomination; you do not need to be an IEEE member to submit a nomination.
Self-nominations are permitted and encouraged.
IEEE Organizational Units may submit recommendations if the governing body or its designee has endorsed the candidate.
1. Review the position description for qualifications and eligibility requirements.
2. Fill out the nomination form.
Nominators do not need to contact the nominee prior to submitting the form. IEEE N&A will contact eligible nominees for their interest and required documentation.
A person may be nominated for more than one position; however, specific qualifications must be provided for each position.
Nominees must provide:
Nominations that do not have the required information will not be considered.

Individuals nominated and considered by IEEE N&A for membership on an IEEE Standing Committee are not disclosed unless appointed by the IEEE Board of Directors.

A nomination does not guarantee either a recommendation by the IEEE N&A Committee or an appointment by the IEEE Board of Directors.
