The following position descriptions provide information on the responsibilities and time commitments for members of the IEEE Board of Directors.

Member, IEEE Board of Directors (PDF, 107 KB). The IEEE Board of Directors is the governing body of the IEEE. Directors serving on the Board may have additional specific duties chairing standing committees of the Board, or within the Major Organizational Units. This description applies to every member of the Board and is specific to his or her role as an IEEE Director.
IEEE President (PDF, 69 KB). The IEEE President is elected by the voting members of IEEE and shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the IEEE and shall preside at meetings of the IEEE Board of Directors and the IEEE Assembly.
IEEE Secretary (PDF, 58 KB). The IEEE Secretary is elected by the IEEE Assembly and shall, under the direction of the IEEE Board of Directors, have general supervision of the keeping of records of meetings, activities, membership and any other records required by law.
IEEE Treasurer (PDF, 66 KB). The Treasurer is elected by the IEEE Assembly and shall, under the direction of the IEEE Board of Directors, have general supervision of the fiscal affairs of the IEEE and shall be responsible for the keeping of records thereof.
Vice President, Educational Activities (PDF, 65 KB). The IEEE Vice President – Educational Activities Board is elected by the IEEE Assembly and serves as Chair of the IEEE Educational Activities Board.
Vice President, Member and Geographic Activities (PDF, 81 KB). The IEEE Vice President – Member and Geographic Services is elected by the IEEE Assembly and shall serve as the Chair of the Member and Geographic Activities Board.
Vice President, Publication Services and Products (PDF, 86 KB). The IEEE Vice President – Publication Services and Products is elected by the IEEE Assembly and shall serve as the Chair of the Publication Services and Products Board.
Vice President, Technical Activities (PDF, 81 KB). The IEEE Vice President – Technical Activities is elected by the eligible voting members of IEEE who are also members of at least one society and shall serve as the Chair of the Technical Activities Board.
President, Standards Association (PDF, 86 KB). The Standards Association President is elected by the eligible voting members of IEEE who are also members of the Standards Association and shall serve as the Chair of the IEEE-SA Board of Governors.
President, IEEE-USA (PDF, 79 KB). The IEEE-USA President is elected by the eligible voting members of Regions 1-6, serves as the Chair of IEEE-USA and is a member of the IEEE Board of Directors.
Division Delegate/Directors (PDF, 77 KB). The voting members of each Division shall elect a Delegate to the IEEE Assembly, designated as its Divisional Delegate, who shall also by virtue of such election be a Director, designated as its Divisional Director. Division Delegate/Directors are voting members of the Technical Activities Board
Region Delegate/Director (PDF, 83 KB). The voting members of each Region shall elect a Delegate to the IEEE Assembly, designated as its Regional Delegate, who shall also by virtue of such election be a Director, designated as its Regional Director. Regional Delegate/Directors represent the membership of his/her Region in the IEEE Assembly as a voting delegate. Region Delegate/Directors are voting members of the Member and Geographic Board.
