IEEE strategy builds on the work of earlier IEEE strategic planning activities and is designed to stretch thinking in a way that will positively impact IEEE's direction. Through the process of strategic thinking and positioning, IEEE will remain relevant to members, customers, the technical community, and other key constituencies.

This Web section is designed to inform IEEE volunteers and staff about the IEEE Envisioned Future and the strategic thinking and planning currently underway. The current plan is the result of Board discussions that started in 2006 and continue to this day. The Board discusses the following:

  • future operating environment and desired 10-15 year outcomes;
  • IEEE’s core purpose, core values, mission and vision;
  • three-to-five year goals and objectives.

Links are provided to the background materials on strategic issues that have been discussed by the Board. In addition, major boards engage in planning activities, the Strategic Planning Committee meets regularly and created some tools, templates, and resources for IEEE use. This Web section includes links to the work of various IEEE groups.
