URL Redirect Registration

IEEE Web Services can create a "shortened" URL to your IEEE site. This service is available to IEEE staff, members and volunteers maintaining web content for Regions, Sections, Councils, Societies, Chapters and Student Branches.

Please note: This service is only available for creating redirects within the "www.ieee.org/go" domain.

Some reasons for needing a URL alias or redirect are as follows.

  • You are an IEEE Web Entity, such as a society, chapter, or region, and would like an IEEE URL (www.ieee.org/go/) which points to a site housed on another server (Entity Web Hosting or your own host).
  • You are sending a promotional mailing and want a specific URL such as http://www.ieee.org/go/joinus/.
  • You have a long URL which you would like to appear shortened in print promotions. Such as: http://www.ieee.org/membership/renewal/online/ could be redirected to http://www.ieee.org/go/renew/

Please do not use this registration for files renamed or moved within your directory (i.e., for UCM-to-UCM redirects). Please note: Redirects should not be advertised, printed, or communicated in any way until they have been approved by the Corporate Web Team and created. Having a redirect already in print before the request has been processed is not reason enough for the redirect to be automatically created.

If you have moved a file, please place a notice on the page notifying visitors that the page has moved and to re-bookmark. Redirects are renewed annually.
