First Distant Speech Transmission in Canada Recognized as IEEE Milestone

17 June – Alexander Graham Bell’s first distant speech transmission in Canada was recognized as an IEEE Milestone in Electrical Engineering and Computing during a ceremony 4 May 2008.  Sponsored by the IEEE Hamilton Section, the dedication took place at the same time as the IEEE Region 7 (Canada) meeting and was attended by IEEE President Lewis Terman and IEEE Canada President Ferial El-Hawary.
