IEEE Chronicles the Evolution of Technology in the Olympic Games
25 August – Beijing has made great investments to ensure that the 2008 Summer Olympics is a Gold-medal-winning success. IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional society, has contributed to the games by fostering scientific and technological advancements that have helped to create this year’s “High-Tech Olympics.”
After the successful bidding of the 2008 Olympic Games, the Chinese government and the Beijing Municipal People’s Government made significant preparations — through advances in technology — to ensure a safe, secure and environmentally-friendly location. These advances showed that the Olympic Games are more than just a gathering of the world’s leading athletes, but a gathering of the world’s leading technologies, bringing our global community together through technical innovation.
