IEEE Standards and IEEE-ISTO Set to Move to “The Center for Standards"

31 October—The IEEE Standards and IEEE-ISTO departments will be moving to the newly-named “The Center for Standards” at 501 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, N.J., over a three-day period, 19-21 November 2008.
 

Standards and IEEE-ISTO staff members will start working at The Center on Monday, 24 November. Their phone numbers will remain the same. Also, mail for those departments should continue to be sent to the Operations Center at 445 Hoes Ln., Piscataway, NJ 08854. Facilities will be dropping off and picking up mail at The Center twice a day, starting 24 November.
 

A contest was held to name The Center’s two conference rooms. Winning entries were Cerf,in honor of Vinton Cerf, Google's Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist; and Steinmetz, in honor of Charles Steinmetz, a mathematician and electrical engineer who fostered the development of alternating current that made possible the expansion of the electric power industry in the United States.
