Formula Hybrid International Competition Challenges Students to Build Racecars

6 May – The 2008 Formula Hybrid™ International Competition, which challenges engineering undergraduate and graduate students to design and build a racecar, is being held at Dartmouth University 5 – 7 May.  IEEE is a primary sponsor of the competition, that requires students to design cars that must conform to a formula which emphasizes drive train innovation and fuel efficiency in a high-performance application. This year, 16 teams are registered to compete, including entries from Russia, Taiwan and Canada.

The Formula Hybrid student automotive design competition is based on the highly successful Formula SAE program.  All of the racecar entries will sport large versions of the IEEE Master Brand this year.

First, second and third place trophies will be awarded for hybrid vehicles. There will be a first-in-class award for a hybrid in progress and participation awards for all other teams. Teams with cars that are still under design and construction or who are just considering entering in 2009 are encouraged to attend, gain knowledge, ask questions and discuss their progress.  Read more at the Formula Hybrid International Competition Web site.
