IEEE Introduces Copyright Infringement Form to Reduce Misuse of IEEE Content

In an ongoing effort to eliminate infringement on the Internet, a new Web form is now available via IEEE Xplore for all IEEE staff, members, and volunteers to report misuse of IEEE intellectual property.

Created by IEEE Spectrum, the award-winning technology magazine, the app lets users explore 126 robots from 19 countries, with 360-degree views, interactive animations, technical specs, and hundreds of photos, videos, and articles.

Brazilian Professor Elected IEEE President

Professor José Roberto Boisson de Marca, of the Center for Science and Technology (CTC) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (CTC/PUC-Rio), has been elected 2014 president of IEEE. His election marks the first time in the organization’s history that IEEE will be led by someone who resides outside of North America.

J. Roberto B. de Marca, professor, Pontifical Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been selected as 2013 IEEE President-Elect. Pending acceptance of the Teller's Committee report by the IEEE Board of Directors in November, de Marca will begin serving as IEEE president on 1 January 2014.

Updated IEEE Statement on Security Incident

We deeply regret the exposure of user IDs and passwords that we became aware of on 24 September 2012. We would like to take this opportunity to explain to our members and customers the circumstances under which the exposure occurred and provide assurances with respect to IEEE’s security processes and policies.

2011 IEEE Annual Report Now Available
25 August 2012

The 2011 IEEE Annual Report is now available. The report provides an overview of key accomplishments of 2011 and demonstrates how IEEE furthered its mission of advancing technology for humanity.

IEEE has maintained its position as one of the top publishers of science and technology journals. According to the 2011 Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Reports (JCR) released in June 2012, IEEE journals sustained their status as premier scholarly publications, earning high rankings in the Impact Factor report.

On 27 June, the IEEE Boston Section dedicated three new IEEE Milestones in Electrical Engineering and Computing for technological breakthroughs that took place at MIT.

At the 25 April awards ceremony held in East Brunswick, NJ, USA, IEEE was ranked 27 out of the 48 companies in the large-sized (more than 250 employees) category. A total of 100 companies overall received the honor, which IEEE also received in 2011.
