Service as a program evaluator (PEV) requires volunteers to stay current on changing practices in engineering or engineering technology education, and the application of accreditation criteria to these situations.
What refresher training does IEEE provide?
IEEE maintains and updates an electronic library of case studies to assist active program evaluators in understanding how to apply program-specific criteria in a wide range of settings and circumstances.
IEEE PEVs are required to complete online refresher training at least once a year or as needed. PEVs should contact their mentor with any questions.
What refresher training does ABET require?
ABET requires that all program evaluators must complete a newly developed, online training course if they:
- have not gone on an evaluation visit in the last two years;
- or have been active for five or more years.
To successfully complete the training, program evaluators must pass three quizzes, referred to as "Checks for Understanding".
