The mission of the IEEE History Committee is to further the preservation, research, and dissemination of information about the history of electrical science and technology, and in particular the technological and organizational history of IEEE, its members, and their professions, in order to increase awareness and understanding of the role of engineering and technology in the improvement of the quality of life for people throughout the world. The Committee provides information and recommends policies to the IEEE Board of Directors, to other IEEE Boards and organizational units, and cooperates with public organizations (of an historical nature) involved in historical activities. The Committee provides oversight to the IEEE History Center to serve as the worldwide center of excellence for preserving, researching, and promoting the legacy of electrical engineering, computing, and associated sciences and technologies. |
