The IEEE Presidents’ Change the World Competition recognizes and rewards students who identify a real-world problem and apply engineering, science, computing, and leadership skills to solve it. The contest offers students the perfect opportunity to have their ingenuity and enthusiasm for engineering and technology recognized by prestigious IEEE members around the globe.
Registration for the 2013 IEEE Presidents' Change the World Competition is now closed. Submissions will now go through a judging process with the top finalists going to the IEEE Presidents' for final review. E-mail notifications will go out to applicants notifying them of which stage their application is in.
The winners of the 2012 IEEEXtreme Presidents' Change the World Competition have been announced. The competition recognizes students who develop unique solutions to real-world problems using engineering, science, computing, and leadership skills to benefit their community or humanity.
Over the course of several months, teams were asked to submit entries where they identified a problem and detailed how their project will positively impact a community or humanity. After two rounds of judging by IEEE Volunteers, the top 15 projects were sent to the IEEE Presidents for a final round of judging.
This Grand Prize winner for 2012 is the team Clean Water: Transforming a Natural Disaster into a Natural Resource, from the University of Oxford. The winning team received their award at the 2012 IEEE Honors Ceremony in Boston, MA, USA, and a check for US$10,000.
