In support of the United Nations World Environment Day (WED) 2010, the IEEE Public Visibility Initiative is waging an awareness campaign to celebrate the positive impact global sustainability technologies have made on the environment.
On 1 June 2010, IEEE initiated a call-to-action: asking all members and citizens of the world to accept the IEEE Green Your World Challenge and commit to making simple lifestyle changes that can benefit humanity and the environment. They include recycling electronics products, reducing in-home water usage, unplugging electronics that are not being used, and reforesting your community by planting a tree or garden. Student Branches should get involved and take the challenge. Since the IEEE Green Your World Web site was launched, it has received over 7,000 page views. Get more involved and join the over 300 fans at the IEEE Green Your World Challenge facebook page. Register your commitment and receive regular updates via Twitter feed (@ieee.org).
