IEEE, in partnership with Microsoft, is pleased to offer a wide selection of development software to IEEE Student members and Graduate Student members. To qualify, the Student or Graduate Student member must meet the requirements of Student Membership as defined by IEEE. The IEEE Microsoft Software Development Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) program offers the complimentary software as an IEEE Student member benefit.
Steps to obtain the Student Member Microsoft Offer
To take advantage of the IEEE Student Member Microsoft offer, please follow the steps below:
- For prospective Undergraduate or Graduate Student members, join IEEE now online and click on "Student/Graduate Student Membership."
- For existing Student members, renew your IEEE membership and you will be included in this program.
- An e-mail with user account and login information to access your free software will be sent to the e-mail address on your IEEE record. Please make sure you provide your e-mail address because that is the only way you will receive information about the offer. It is also critical that all IEEE Student members have an e-mail address that is not a shared address in order to receive the offer.
Please note: You will receive an e-mail within four weeks of your confirmation of Student or Graduate Student membership of IEEE.

One software license per Student membership is allowed each year of active IEEE Student or Graduate Student membership. License terms also require that software use is for educational and research purposes only. This software is for personal use only. Students can obtain this software, including updates to the latest versions, as long as they are active IEEE Student members or Graduate Student members. Please note that the software offered is development software and does not include Microsoft Office.
