Energy Consulting International, Inc. (ECI), a consulting firm specializing in the development and application of new electric power monitoring and control technologies, released the version 2.52.11 of QuickStab. The program performs fast system-wide stability calculations, to determine the distance to the system state where voltages collapse and units may get out of synchronism, and bus-level stability analysis, to identify critical buses and to determine the impact of generators on any load bus in the network. QuickStab was implemented, and is currently being used, in real-time and off-line in system dispatching, operations planning and market scheduling.
The computational speed and accuracy of the new QuickStab were extensively tested at two user sites. The testing results confirm the speed and precision of QuickStab and point to a fast and reliable tool for real-time and off-line voltage and steady-state stability analysis.
