UPS System
Extensive testing of the inverter and batteries in the redesigned S&C PureWave UPS System has confirmed that both the low- and medium-voltage versions can provide 60 s of run time at full load.
This enhanced capability offers significant advantages to critical power users. To obtain power protection beyond 30 s, such power users formerly needed to install a costly back-up generator. For facilities already incorporating a back-up generator in the power protection scheme, the full minute of run time yields reserve battery power for repeated power quality events, permitting an additional crank cycle of the generator. (Typical diesel generator crank cycles are 15 s long, followed by 15 s "rest.")
The PureWave UPS System warranty remains unchanged: two years on the equipment and a nonprorated five years or 625 MJ on the batteries.
