LEOS Board of Governors Doubles the Number of LEOS Graduate Student Fellowships

The LEOS Board of Governors approved increasing the number of Graduate Student Fellowships to twelve per annum.

Graduate Fellowships are available for outstanding IEEE/LEOS student members pursuing graduate education within the LEOS field of interest. Students should normally be in their penultimate year of study at time of nomination (i.e. those nominated in May 2000 would normally expect to defend their thesis during 2001). Twelve Fellowships of $5,000 each will be awarded (based on the student membership in each of the main geographical regions: Americas; Europe/Middle East/Africa; Asia/Pacific. For 2000, the Fellowships will be awarded with 5 Americas; 4 Europe/Mid East/Africa; 3 Pacific Rim). An additional travel grant of up to $1,000 is available to each Fellowship recipient to attend the LEOS Annual Meeting for the award presentation.

The deadline for the nominations is 30 May.
