Fig. 4. At a quarter period of the tunneling oscillation
the atomic state is a Schršdinger Cat-like superposition,
where the internal and external degrees of freedom are
strongly entangled. This figure shows the position
dependent probability density for each of the nine
magnetic sublevels of the F=9 hyperfine ground state
of 133Cs. The marginal probability distributions
in position or spin are shown in shadow, projected
on the wall. In addition, we show for comparison
the experimentally determined m-state distribution,
measured with a Stern-Gerlach apparatus.
