Nominations are now being accepted for the 2000 Tyndall Award. The award will be presented at OFC00 in Baltimore, MD (5-10 March).
This award is jointly sponsored by the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society and the Optical Society of America, and endowed by Corning, Inc. It is presented to a single individual who has made outstanding contributions in any area of lightwave technology, including optical fibers and cables, the optical components employed in fiber systems, as well as the transmission systems employing fibers. With the expansion of this technology, many individuals have become worthy of consideration.
This years selection committee consists of Michael Ettenberg, Chair (Sarnoff Corp.); Milton Chang (New Focus, Inc.), Giok-Djan Khoe (COBRA Institute), Steven Newton (Hewlett Packard Laboratories), and Kenneth Hill (Communications Research Center).
