The PSAC Awards Committee is pleased to announce that
Professor Emeritus Igor Alexeff of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville
is the recipient of the Plasma Science and Applications Special
Award (the so-called PSAC Award) to be presented at the 2002 ICOPS
in Banff, Alberta, Canada. The award citation reads:
"For outstanding contributions to plasma science,
including pioneering work on ion acoustic waves and on plasma sheath
expansion, substantial impact on the development of high power microwave
sources, dedicated mentorship and education of generations of students,
and extraordinary professional service, including the co-founding
of the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society in 1972.”

issue of the Newsletter which will feature the 2002 ICOPS.
