Jan. 7, Rep. Vernon Ehlers (R-MI) introduced legislation (H.R. 60)
that would amend the Metric Conversion Act of 1975 in order to require
that persons receiving federal funding for scientific or engineering
research must identify the extent to which the metric system of
measurement or other systems of measurement will be used under the
transaction and impose financial responsibility on the funding recipient
for any failures to follow that measurement system. The bill was
referred to the House Science Committee for review.
