COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

With the New Year we have been preparing the new brochure and leaflets for use in membership communication and promotion for the coming two years. These will be seen at the upcoming meetings that we sponsor. This year we have produced a new leaflet highlighting the involvement of the NPSS community in different areas of science and engineering. As before, we will be having the membership booth at most of these meetings and luckily for us, Vern Price has agreed to spend another year looking after the booth at several of these meetings. At other meetings, we will be relying on volunteers attending the meeting to give up some of their time there to answer questions on the IEEE and NPSS and otherwise promote membership and other broader involvement.
Prior to the recent AdCom meeting, the Communications Committee held an open meeting with the primary focus of ensuring the maintenance and expansion of the web site. This work is not a small task and luckily we have the invaluable help of Dick Kouzes for the maintenance of the mechanics of the web site so that other volunteers only have to worry about the content and links.
As ever, I welcome comments and suggestions as to how we can do better. Material is available from me, and my company looks after the storage and shipping of NPSS literature and the booth to the meetings. We are always looking for volunteers to help and even if you can not spend time at the booth, please suggest to colleagues that they consider joining IEEE and NPSS if they are not already members. Need background information and points of discussion? Take a look at the brochure and chat to Vern Price and others.
