The NPSS Italy Chapter is technically co-sponsoring the “4th International Conference on Physics and Control,” that will be held in Catania, Italy, at the Engineering Faculty, 1–4 September 2009. The Conference will focus on the interdisciplinary research activities at the borderline between Physics and Control and is promoted by the International Physics and Control Society (IPACS), uniting experts in such areas as nonlinear dynamics and control; nuclear fusion technology; control of plasma, beams, lasers; quantum information and control; control of oscillations, chaos and bifurcations; control in thermodynamics; modeling and identification of physical systems; complexity and self-organization; analysis and control of complex networks; network and system synchronization; mechanical systems and nanotechnologies; as well as other related applications in science and technology. The Conference is further promoted and supported by other International Organizations such as the Centre for Chaos and Complex Networks at City University of Hong Kong, STMicroelectronics Catania, Scuola Superiore di Catania, and INFN Catania (National Institute for Nuclear Physics).
The Conference scope will cover a broad interest area in different disciplines and involve leading scientists from many different fields. The focus will be given to those activities at the edge of Physics and Control with emphasis on both theory and applications.
A Distinguished Lecture will be given by Dr. Alessandro Rizzo from Politecnico di Bari on “Soft Sensors and Artificial Intelligence: exploiting experimental data and human expertise to design effective tools for modeling, monitoring, validation and control in fusion technology”.
Two mini-symposia will be held on “Modelling and Optimization of Beam and Plasma Dynamics” and “Physics and Control in Fusion Plasma Devices.”
