Running excellent meetings is not the complete job. The meetings and the community they support are missing something if everyone is not aware of all the opportunities to meet and interact. Publicity ensures that the greatest benefit is derived from all the opportunities that we create.
The communications committee provides some of the tools to help all the NPSS volunteers to better serve their communities. In April over two tons of brochures and leaflets were delivered to my office for distribution to meetings this year and next. This year we have shipped materials to eleven conferences and the booth to most of them – happily we can relax a little next year as we have fewer meetings! Scott Fisher in my office has to be thanked for doing the brunt of the shipping. In addition we arrange for IEEE corporate information to be sent to conferences directly from IEEE and any member can request this material by going to http://ewh.ieee.org/forms/md/supplies.php - however, a web account is required.
In addition to shipping to conferences, brochures are mailed to NPSS members and IEEE members with an interest profile overlay in time to arrive for the membership renewal cycle. These mailings included a letter from our President, Craig Woody.
The images of the new NPSS posters are on the web site so that you can, if you wish, download them and print them locally.
The old NPSS web site design has been in use for 8 years and so a new design was commissioned and has now been implemented. Please, if you have not already done so, take a look at our society’s new web site at www.ieee-npss.org.
The NPSS web site is the place to go for current information on NPSS conferences, awards, technical committees, publications and general administration information. We hope that you like the new site and we are always ready to receive updates and comments on the information it contains as well as information for new pages. The site is for members and nonmembers alike and is the most public face of the NPSS to which anyone looking for information will come.
If you can use brochures, leaflets, posters or other informational material at your meetings, place of work or other events, please contact me in time for us to ship what you need to you.
