The 2000 IEEE Nuclear and Space Radiation Effects Conference was held July 24-28 at the Silver Legacy Hotel in Reno, Nevada. Chairman Ron Pease, RLP Research, and his committee did an excellent job. "We were pleased that 566 from the U.S., Canada and 13 countries attended NSREC 2000," said Chairman Pease. There were 54 oral presentations at the Technical Session, 33 Poster Session papers and 27 Radiation Workshop papers. The Best Paper awards will be announced in December. There were a total of 40 exhibit booths. Conference social was attended by 541 and held at Ponderosa Ranch at Lake Tahoe.
"We had many firsts at the 2000 conference," continued Pease. "We were the first NSREC to allow for electronic submission of summaries, the first to allow electronic presentations (80% of the oral presentations and invited papers), the first to require electronic submission of final papers to the Transactions on Nuclear Science, and NSREC was the first to offer on-line registration."
