The Solid-State Circuit Society finished 1998 with 12,257 active members, up 13.6% from the end of December 1997 and up 33.9% from its inception on January 1, 1997. We finished the year as the second fastest growing society in IEEE. Our next challenge is to finish the millennium with continued strong growth.

Member Benefits

Don't forget as one of the benefits of SSCS membership, in addition to the printed version of the Journal of Solid State Circuits, you also have searchable online access to the Journal articles since 1997 through the IEEE OPeRA website. There are pointers to the OPeRA site from the SSCS web page www.sscs.org/jssc/ or you can reach it directly by going to www.opera.ieee.org/opera/. You need to be registered to use this site, but registration is fast and can be done online, all you need is your IEEE member number.

Nominate a Senior Member Program Continued

The Nominate-a-Senior Member program is to be continued through 1999. As you may remember this program gives the nominating Section or Society a $10 per candidate incentive to nominate qualified candidates for promotion to Senior Member status. Fill-in the Society code SSC 37 where the form asks "Nominating Section/Society". Web-based forms for nomination and references are available at www.ieee.org/ra/md. In 1999 newly elected Senior Members will receive walnut plaques with brass name plates to recognize their technical excellence.
