GOLD Sponsors IEEE GOLD Summit 2008

Scheduled on Thursday, 18 September and Friday, 19 September 2008, the first IEEE GOLD Summit was prior to IEEE Sections Congress 2008 in Quebec, Canada.  IEEE GOLD feels the GOLD Summit event and infusion of young professional members at IEEE Sections Congress 2008 provides IEEE the knowledge that its young professional members want to be involved in volunteer activities and work in IEEE leadership roles.

Each IEEE Region appointed three delegates from their region to attend the Summit. The GOLD Summit goals are defined as:

  • Generate an action plan to bridge the Region GOLD management to GOLD Affinity Group
  • Define a holistic IEEE online experience, direction and understanding of web branding and protocol
  • Launch IEEE STEP (Student Transition and Elevation Partnership) program
  • Identify at least three GOLD members from each region to attend the GOLD Summit

Funding was provided through IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Board and the respective IEEE Regions sending their delegates.  More information is available on the GOLD Summit web site.
