Authors are encouraged to submit postdeadline papers. The purpose of
postdeadline papers is to give participants the opportunity to hear new
and significant results in rapidly advancing areas. Only those papers judged
to be truly excellent and compelling in their timeliness will be accepted.
The Programme Committee will accept a limited number of postdeadline
papers for presentation at the meeting. Papers must reach IEEE/LEOS no
later than 12 July 2000, 5:00pm US EST. NO FAXES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Absolutely no papers received after this deadline will be considered
by the Programme Committee. Authors will be advised of acceptance or rejection
by telephone, fax, telex or e-mail no later than 30 July 1998. Postdeadline
papers will be presented at an evening session on Thursday, 17 September
1998.
Submission Requirements
- Authors of postdeadline papers must submit:
- a covering letter indicating the significance of the contribution
- a Categorisation Form found on pages 131-134
- 35-word abstract
- a one-page summary and one copy
The 35-word abstract, prefaced by the title of the talk and the authors'
names, affiliations, complete return address, and telephone/ fax number
and e-mail address, should be typed double spaced on a separate sheet.
Avoid use of scientific and engineering symbols as well as acronyms (e.g.
APD for avalanche photodiode) in the abstract and title.
The one-page summary must be submitted on A4 or 8.5" x 11"
paper, typed single spaced, no columns, on one side only. Summaries submitted
on A4 paper must have 3.3cm top/bottom margins and 2.22cm left/right margins.
Summaries submitted on 8.5" x11" paper must have 1" margins
on all four sides. The author must include equations, drawings, figures
and references within the one page limit. The summary page must begin with
the title of the talk and the authors' names, affiliations, complete return
address, and telephone/fax numbers and e-mail address. Do not use asterisks,
acknowledgements, job descriptions, or footnotes. Cite references at the
end of the summary and limit to five.
If the paper is accepted the summary will appear in the Postdeadline
Paper publication which will be distributed to registrants at the meeting.
Use this checklist to avoid the most common mechanical errors in
submitted papers:
- All material must be typed single spaced with no columns.
- Type the title, authors' names, complete return address and telephone/fax
number and e-mail address.
- The 35-word abstract must be on a separate first page.
- A4 paper margins: 3.3cm top/ bottom, 2.22cm left/right
- 8.5" x11" paper margins: 1" all sides
Adherence to the above instructions for the preparation of the abstract
and summary is imperative.
Any of the following conditions may result in rejection of a paper:
- Failure to submit the paper by the deadline date.
- Failure to complete and attach the appropriate Postdeadline Categorisation
Form found on pages 131-134.
- Failure to submit original and one copy of the one-page summary.
- Failure to submit the 35-word abstract on a separate sheet of paper.
- Failure to submit a covering letter.
