Welcome to IEEE/LEOS

1st International Conference on
Group IV Photonics

Description of the Conference:

This conference provides a new global focus for late-breaking results on the science and technology of silicon-based optoelectronics. The technical program consists of 2 plenary and 20 invited speakers, as well as 48 contributed and poster papers.

World leaders in silicon photonics will report innovative and practical developments aimed at commercially viable low-cost system-on-a-chip solutions for telecomm, datacomm, optical-interconnect, and sensing applications. The areas covered include light emitters, lasers, amplifiers, active microresonators, photodetectors, waveguides, add/drop filters, photonic-crystal devices, modulators, switches and optoelectronic integration.
Sessions are scheduled on quantum dot devices, Terahertz plasmonics, microcavities, SOI, photonic crystals,
rare earths, sources, detectors, modulators, and integration.

The conference will be held annually, alternating between Asia/Pacific, Europe and North America. The goal is to have this meeting become the premier conference on silicon optoelectronics.

Dates of the Conference:

The dates of GFP2004 were chosen with an awareness of the 2004 Meeting held by the Electro-Chemical Society (ECS).

The Wednesday through Friday sessions of GFP2004 (September 29th 2004-October 1st 2004) will be held “in tandem” with the SiGe Symposium and the Luminescent Materials Symposium sponsored by the ECS at their Honolulu, Hawaii conference to be held Sunday through Friday, October 3rd through October 8th 2004.

Over the October 2-3 weekend, GFP attendees can fly easily and directly from Hong Kong to the Honolulu ECS and attend the Symposia there.
