Special Symposium on New Materials for Photonics

Innovation in photonics is often enabled by progress in materials science and technology. Just think of the blue LED/laser, the OLED, the EDFA and plenty of other examples. In this symposium we will focus on new materials and material combinations that hold the promise to join this list in the future. The emphasis will not only be on materials that bring enhanced photonic functionality but also on materials that allow to implement photonic functions in more sustainable and energy-efficient ways, considering the entirety of their life-cycle.
