IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal, for exceptional contributions to the advancement of communications sciences and engineering, sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs  to Robert J. McEliece - Allen E. “For fundamental contributions to the theory and practice of error-correcting codes and to the design of deep space telecommunication systems.”

IEEE Edison Medal, for a career of meritorious achievement in electrical science or electrical engineering or the electrical arts, sponsored by Samsung Electronics Company, Ltd. to Tingye Li - Former Division Manager, Communications Infrastructure Research Laboratory, AT&T Labs, Holmdel, NJ, USA
