Robert C. Hansen
Dr. Robert C. Hansen’s contributions to the antenna field are broad and comprehensive. He has left a legacy in print for present and future students with his three-volume series, Microwave Scanning Antennas, the primary reference work on scanning antennas. It contains fundamental principles, practical design considerations and a discussion of inherent limitations and problems that arise in the implementation of large scanning arrays. He also has published more than 100 papers and numerous books, and has been an associate editor of Microwave Journal, Radio Science, and the Microwave Engineer’s Handbook.
A Life Fellow of the IEEE and a Fellow of the IEE, he has served as president of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. President of R.C. Hansen, Inc., in Tarzana, Calif., he is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and a registered Professional Engineer in California and England.
