IEEE Honorary Membership Nomination Guidelines
Guidelines for Nominators
IEEE Honorary Members are elected by the Board of Directors from among those individuals, not members of the IEEE, who have rendered meritorious service to mankind in IEEE's designated fields of interest, whose recognition will bring honor to the Institute. Honorary Membership is awarded for life. Honorary Members shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of the IEEE, except the right to hold office therein.
Selection Criteria: The following criteria should be used in preparing Item 9 of the nomination form:
- Outstanding contribution or innovation that has substantially influenced electrotechnology and the related disciplines.
- Outstanding managerial skills that have influenced the electrotechnology industry.
- An outstanding career in science, which has been instrumental in development of specific technology of key importance to the fields of interest to the IEEE.
- Outstanding contributions to international cooperation in the field of electrotechnology and its related disciplines, which have had major beneficial consequences to mankind.
- Major invention or discovery in other scientific fields of significant benefit to human well-being, based on application of knowledge of science and technology.
Endorsers:In accordance with Item 8 of the nomination form, at least three, but not more than five, letters of support (endorsement) are required. These letters may be forwarded directly to IEEE (see contact info. below). The names and addresses should be entered in Item 8 on the the nomination form.
