Q. What is the Individual Benefits & Services Committee (IB&SC)?

The IB&SC is a standing committee of the IEEE Board of Directors administered by the IEEE Executive Committee as set forth in Bylaw 1-305.

The IB&SC is responsible for formulating and recommending to the Executive Committee programs for individual member benefits and services and for monitoring, coordinating, and advising on such programs. Additionally, the committee shall review and coordinate recommended non-technical member benefit programs developed and submitted by organizational units of the IEEE.

Proposed new benefits or special services shall be reviewed and evaluated by the Committee to determine their conformity to the Committee Guidelines established in the IEEE Policies, and with regard to financial and other legal liabilities, before such new benefits and services are recommended to the Executive Committee.

Q. Who are the members of the IB&SC?

The IB&SC shall consist of the following:

Voting Members: (at least one voting member shall be a GOLD member)

• Chair (appointed by the IEEE Board of Directors)
• Three Members-at-Large (appointed by the IEEE Board of Directors)
• IEEE Treasurer
• An IEEE-USA Representative
• One member each from Regions 7, 8, 9 & 10

Non-voting members may include:

• A member of the Membership Development Committee
• Other Vice-Presidents representing Boards with any interest may designate a non-voting member of the committee.

Q. What is the term of office of members of the IB&SC?  

Members shall be appointed for one year terms and are eligible for re-appointment in accordance with IEEE Bylaw 1-305.6 and 7.

Q.    How many times does the IB&SC meet annually?  

The IB&SC meets twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall, proximate to the Executive Committee meetings. These meetings will be held to coincide with the Insurance Committee meetings, and may be jointly held to cover common issues.
