Grant Request from the IEEE Life Member Fund
The IEEE Life Members Committee is committed to responding to the need to recognize engineering achievements, to support education at all levels, and to help support special projects, including education and information exchange efforts, the IEEE History Center, and the IEEE Awards program.
The intention of the IEEE LM Committee is to be an advocate and supporter of programs that reflect the breadth and range of the engineering field and to make a significant, positive, global impact on the profession. In doing so, it is understood that these objectives can be met by the work of IEEE units as well as by outside groups working in areas of relevance and importance to the IEEE and its membership.
- The LMC seeks to be a catalyst and provide seed money to units that have an interest in creating programs and projects that will make a lasting impression on electro technology and related fields.
- The IEEE LM Fund does not provide funds for overhead expenses nor for those costs that can be associated with the regular, ongoing business of the Institute or the applying entity.
- The LMF does not normally fund brick and mortar or the acquisition of equipment. Travel expenses will be considered only if they clearly support the goals of the project.
- The IEEE LM Committee should not be looked upon as a supplement to the normal budgeting process.
To be considered for funding by the LMC, a project should have a clearly defined objective and usually supports the following primary areas of interest:
- Young Electrical/Computer Engineers
- Potential Electrical/Computer Engineers
- IEEE Life Members (LM)
- Mature IEEE Members not yet qualified for LM status
- History of Electrical/Computer Engineering
If you feel that your organization (Section or Chapter) has a project, which fulfills the criteria identified above, you are welcome to apply for a grant. Please submit the application as noted on the IEEE Foundation Board of Directors Web page.
