IEEE Life Membership & Life Member Fund

IEEE Life Membership - IEEE "Life" status is an automatic process which is based on an individual's membership record to determine if an IEEE member qualifies for Life member status. The member must be at least 65 years of age and has been a member of IEEE or one of its predecessor societies for such a period that the sum of his/her age and his/her years of membership equals or exceeds 100 years. (IEEE Bylaw I-102.2)   Members who qualify each year will be notified by mail in the fourth quarter of the qualifying year.  "Life" status will be effective on 1 January of the following year.   Contact IEEE Member Services if you have any questions regarding your IEEE Life Member status.

IEEE Life Member Fund (LMF): This fund supports the activities of interest to Life Members, potential engineers and engineering students. The LMF is supported by the generosity of IEEE members.  To the maximum extent possible, Life members should financially support the Life Members fund.  Make a donation to the Life Member Fund online

IEEE Life Member Pins:   Any Life member who has donated $50 or more to the Life Member Fund will receive a pin in accordance to their membership grade. The distribution of a pin will be limited to 1 per IEEE member.     LM Pins are available for purchase through the Member and Geographic Activities Department.

Life members represent an invaluable repository of personal experiences involving the history of areas of interest to IEEE.  The IEEE Life Members Committee is dedicated to keeping Life members active in IEEE Life Member Forum affairs.
