Position Statement: It is an honor to be considered as a candidate for a second year as Treasurer. I think I can continue to bring commitment, experience, and enthusiasm to this position. In addition to serving as IEEE Treasurer, I have served as the 2003-4 IEEE-USA Secretary-Treasurer and the 2005-6 IEEE RAB Treasurer. In addition to these specific roles, I have also served on IEEE’s Finance Committee and IEEE’s New Initiative Committee (for three of the five years. I have also served as a Region treasurer for Region 3. In these roles, I have developed working relationships with the other OU treasurers, the staff of IEEE Finance, as well as continue to expand my knowledge of all the good things that IEEE accomplishes and the staff, volunteers, and financial engine that provides them. I am supportive of the initiative to make the IEEE board more strategy-oriented and to help focus the resources of the Institute in the strategic direction developed by the board.
I am willing, and I have the support of my employer, to serve in 2008. I thank you again for considering me for this position and look forward to serving if selected.
I have served on IEEE FinCom for five years and worked (with others) on several significant activities:
- Restructuring the infrastructure funding model
- Model for rebuilding the IEEE reserves
- IEEE Color of Infrastructure Document
- IEEE Lines of Operation
Additionally, I have participated on the IT Strategy Committee with significant contributions related to Communities, IT Strategy, E-Mail service and Entity Web Hosting.
