What are the requirements to run for office?
IEEE members in good standing holding the membership grade of Senior Member or higher and who is not under suspension is eligible to run for office. Office position descriptions outlines the responsibilities and time commitments for members of the IEEE Board of Directors.
IEEE members running for Standards Association Board of Governors Member-at-Large, the membership requirement is Member grade or higher.
What are the requirements to petition to be on the ballot?
All petition candidates must be IEEE voting members in good standing, Senior Member grade or higher. Petition signatures must be received at IEEE Headquarters no later than 12:00 o'clock noon on the Friday preceding 15 June of the year of the election.
Verification that a petition and the petition candidate meets the qualifications of the office for which he or she is being nominated shall be confirmed by the Tellers Committee.
Who is eligible to vote?
Eligible voting members include the following grades:
- Honorary Member
- Fellow
- Senior Member
- Member
- Graduate Student Member
When are candidates announced?
The IEEE Board of Directors submits to all voting members on or before 1 May of each year a list of nominees for President-Elect; Delegate/Director or Delegate-Elect/Director-Elect, whichever is applicable; and such other officers to be elected by voting members for the coming term.
When are ballots mailed?
All ballots will be mailed by 1 August. Information and procedures regarding electronic transmission of ballots will be included in the ballot package.
What is the deadline for ballot receipt?
Ballots must be received by 12:00 o'clock noon, Central Time U.S.A. (17:00 UTC) on 1 October by the annual election vendor will be counted. Please mail early to allow for delivery by the deadline date or submit your ballot electronically.
When are results announced?
Results of the Annual Election will be announced after the Tellers Committee tallies the ballots. The results will be made final after the IEEE Board of Directors at its November meeting, accepts the Tellers Committee Report.
