IEEE Grant Administration

Every year, foundations and government agencies give away billions of dollars to implement and/or improve programs and services of non-profit organizations. IEEE is, has been and should be a recipient of some of this money.

HOW IEEE GRANT ADMINISTRATION CAN HELP YOU?

IEEE Grant Administration, a part of the IEEE Development Office, is responsible for supporting and coordinating all grants applied for, and received by, the IEEE for conferences, projects, and programs. Assistance is available for all IEEE staff and volunteers with:

  • Identifying funding agencies
  • Drafting proposals
  • Understanding and following funding agencies guidelines
  • Reviewing/editing proposal for completeness and consistency with the IEEE mission
  • Using grant agency web portals such as NSF Fastlane and grants.gov
  • Obtaining required IEEE approval per the IEEE Financial Operations Manual (PDF, 271 KB) FOM.7.G
  • Submitting and tracking grant proposal
  • Ensuring compliance with grant reporting requirements

WHAT IS A GRANT?

A grant is a type of financial assistance awarded for the conduct of research or other program as specified in the grant proposal.  Grants are typically awarded by government agencies, and private and corporate foundations.

WHAT IS A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION?

The U.S. Internal Revenue Services (IRS) defines a charitable contribution as a payment with the following criteria: the contributor must intend the payment to be a gift; the contribution must be in excess of the value of any benefit the donors receives in return; and the recipient organization must be qualified by the U.S. IRS to receive gifts.  Charitable contributions are typically received from individuals and corporations. Contributions may be designated to the areas of interest to the donor.

The IEEE Development Office is responsible for coordinating all charitable contributions on behalf of the IEEE and the IEEE Foundation.  Contact the IEEE Development Office by telephone: +1 732 562 3915 and by e-mail: supportieee@ieee.org.
