EDS Distinguished Lecturer Approval Process

Nominations for EDS Distinguished Lecturers can only be submitted by EDS AdCom Members.   EDS AdCom Members should send resumes to Laura Riello of the EDS Executive Office.  Self-nomination is not accepted.

Approval of all EDS Distinguished Lecturers occur twice a year at an EDS Educational Activities Committee (EduCom) Meeting which will be held in conjunction with the two AdCom Meetings.  The resumes of the proposed distinguished lecturers will be distributed via email at least three weeks prior to the meeting.

If an EDS EduCom meeting is not scheduled, then the voting will take place in the same time frame as the AdCom Meeting, but via email.

Procedure:

1. Check to see if the person already holds an elected or appointed position on the EDS
Administrative Committee or is a current IEEE/EDS Fellow

    a. If yes, forward resume to EDS Educational Activities Chair for review and somewhat
        automatic approval

    b. If not, check to see if the individual is an IEEE member.  If yes, stock pile resume until
the next mid-year or December EDS EduCom meeting.  The entire EDS EduCom would
review to determine if individual should be approved to become an EDS DL.

    c. If individual is not an IEEE member, ask if they would like to join.

2. If individual approved to serve as an EDS DL, Executive Office sends new DL a DL     Welcome Packet

3. If individual not approved to serve as an EDS DL, Executive Office sends a letter out to
individual advising them that they have not been approved.
