Electrical Engineers (AIEE) are linked
by long distance lines
connected to loudspeakers so that both
meetings could follow the
same program (14 February).

his assistant, Shintaro Uda.

The Combined Line and
Recording (CLR) method of handling toll
calls over long distances
(100 miles or more) is introduced
experimentally by Bell Systems. It
reduces the handling of toll
calls from 13 minutes (in 1920) to 7 minutes.
