IEEE to Serve as Program Partner of FORTUNE Brainstorm: TECH Conference

29 June – For the second year in a row, IEEE is a Program Partner at FORTUNE magazine’s Brainstorm: TECH conference that will be held 22 – 24 July in Pasadena, Calif. FORTUNE Brainstorm: TECH is an invitation-only meeting that brings together the world's top technology and media innovators, entrepreneurs, thinkers and visionaries to explore trends that are shaping the future. This year’s event will focus on how technology companies, content creators and other institutions can help lead the way out of recession and into the future.

As Program Partner, IEEE is providing FORTUNE with insights into technology issues driving the future and is advising FORTUNE’s editors on program content. IEEE has also secured the following speaking slots:

  • IEEE Fellow Saifur Rahman will chair a panel discussing “Smart Grid: Making it a Reality.” He will be joined by IEEE past president, Leah Jamieson, and John McDonald of GE;
  • Futurist, author and inventor, Ray Kurzweil, will discuss “Innovating for the Future” with IEEE Spectrum Editor Susan Hassler;
  • IEEE Fellow, Charles Elachi, director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Cal Tech, is speaking on “Space: Live Long and Prosper
