IEEE Bylaws



Adopted by the IEEE Board of Directors and incorporating revisions
through 13 September 2009


Implementation of the Constitutional provisions, in specific organizational structures and procedures is entrusted to the IEEE Bylaws.  The IEEE Bylaws are approved and amended by the IEEE Board of Directors.

Section I-100.  Membership.  

Section 100 of the Bylaws contains specific information pertaining to IEEE member's grades, rights and privileges, dues, assessments, other fees, and member discipline and support.    

Section I-200.  The Assembly.

Section 200 of the Bylaws contains Assembly related Bylaws.  This includes information regarding the membership, meetings and the responsibilities of the IEEE Assembly

Section I-300.  Management.

Section 300 of the Bylaws contains information pertaining to the operations of the IEEE Board of Directors and its organizational units which includes the Major Boards and standing committees.  Rules applying to the operation of the organizational units of the IEEE,  including, meeting protocol, voting procedures, as well as, bylaws governing nominations and elections, and amendments to the IEEE Constitution and these Bylaws.

Section I-400.  Geographical and Technical Groups/Organization of Members.

Section 400 contains the Bylaws establishing the various groups of members which includes IEEE Societies, Geographic and Technical Councils, Regions, Sections, Areas, Subsections, Chapters, Affinity Groups, Student Branches and Branch Chapters. Additionally, located in this section are the qualifications for membership in the IEEE Standards Association.
