What are the system/software requirements to run the courses?
The minimum system requirements for supported platforms are listed below.

  • Flash 7.0 or higher (Get Flash Player Now)

How long does each course take?

Courses range from 1 to 2 hours.

Do I have to be connected to the Internet to take a course?

Yes. The courses require a live connection to the host site to play correctly. You cannot download a course and run it later.

Do I need to have sound to take a course?

It is preferable to have sound since all of the courses use audio narration.

When I click on the IEEE Expert Now course title, the course won't launch.

Check to make sure that you have disabled ‘Pop-up blockers’ from your system. Pop-up’s can be temporarily disabled for one-time viewing, or you can select ‘always allow’ to avoid this problem for future IEEE Expert Now course viewing. Consult your pop-up blocking software for disabling instructions.

What are Continuing Education Unites (CEUs) and how can I earn them?

The CEU is a unit that measures a person's participation in a formal, non-credit continuing education program, such as a workshop, seminar, tutorial, or self-study course. IEEE maintains an official registry of all CEUs awarded. All one-hour IEEE Expert Now courses include a quiz, which upon successful completion makes you eligible to earn .3 CEU; .6 CEUs for two-hour courses.

What are Professional Development Hours (PDHs)?

A Professional Development Hour (PDH) is a contact hour (nominal) of instruction or presentation. IEEE maintains an official registry of all PDHs awarded. All one-hour Expert Now IEEE courses include a quiz, which upon successful completion makes you eligible to earn 1 PDH; 2 PDHs for two-hour courses.

If I stop in the middle of a course and come back later, can I still complete the course?

Yes, you can return to the course and complete it in separate sittings.

How do I navigate to a specific place in the course?

Use the MAP/Course Outline button in the lower left corner of the course screen to open the course chapter navigation.
