Careers In Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering
Electrical, electronics, and computer engineers have made remarkable contributions to our world. Engineers are people who solve problems and focus on making things work more efficiently and effectively. IEEE members helped invent the computer, DSL, cellular phones, microchips, and solar panels - to name a few! DVD players, radio, television, computers, airplanes, space vehicles, cars, motorcycles, home appliances, life-saving medical equipment, computer games, and Martian battles fought with joysticks represent a mere sampling of the now familiar facets of life made possible through engineering. With today?s technological advancements, engineering careers offer even more exciting possibilities.
Starting salaries vary depending on the specific field of study or industry in which the engineer is employed, where they work, and other benefits the employer may offer as a part of the compensation package. Current starting salaries are generally in the range from $40,000 to $60,000 per year, and go up from there.
The IEEE Virtual Museum offers many examples of how electrical engineers have contributed to our world.
