IEEE 802® Standards Education Workshop: The World of IEEE 802 Standards

Co-located with IEEE Globecom 2009 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA (30 November - 4 December 2009).

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to spend the day with experienced working group leaders from the IEEE 802 Standards community.

This full day event will cover each of the working groups developing standards in both the wired and wireless areas.

The workshop will:

  • present an overview and scope of each IEEE 802 technical working group and how they relate or differ from each other;
  • focus on the functional capabilities and market relevance of the standards;
  • update attendees on the status of current and future projects within the IEEE 802 groups;
  • walk attendees through the standards development process;
  • include an important discussion on intellectual property issues;
  • conclude with a panel discussion on the Value of Standards;
  • provide for open question and answer periods throughout the day.

New IEEE Position Paper on the Role of Technical Standards in the Curriculum
