ASME Codes and Standards

The articles in this booklet explore different facets of ASME Codes and Standards. Written by eight ASME experts, they were originally published in ASME Mechanical Advantage, a periodical for tomorrow’s engineers. ASME Codes and Standards play an important role in ensuring the safety of the public and in the standardization of things as common as nuts and bolts.

Codes and Standards Online Module

This is an ASME online module that will help the student to:

• understand the difference between codes and standards and the difference between performance and design standards;
• understand the importance of codes and standards in engineering;
• be familiar with the standards development process and ASME’s role in it;

U.S. Standards – Today and Tomorrow

This ANSI course focuses on the U.S. national standards systems and is an intermediate-level course that supplements basic standards education.
