Features of the IEEE Mentoring Connection Program

 The most important feature of the IEEE Mentoring Connection program is that our members are partnering with other IEEE members. The partnerships can be local, long distance, or across the globe.

IEEE Mentoring Connection program features include:

  • new discussion forum where all participating members can post responses to questions and raise new ones;
  • new polling feature to encourage feedback;
  • "library" with documents, presentations, articles, and a guide, "Establishing Self-Initiated Mentoring Relationships", to provide information for each phase of the partnership;
  • mentoring agreement to help the mentee and mentor outline their partnership parameters;
  • mentors can limit their partnerships to no more than two (2) at a time by turning off their availability to additional requests for matches;
  • mentoring partnership usually lasts for one year, but, if the match is not right for either the mentor or mentee, it can be closed and both can be available for a new partnership;
  • Web-based program to facilitate the mentoring partnership. The mentee self-selects their mentor by beginning the search within the program;
  • mentors who are IEEE members, professional, and technical experts.
